Hot Off the Griddle: This Year’s Upcoming Food Truck Trends
It’s 2017, and you would be forgiven for thinking that every food type from every corner of the globe has been taken, twisted and turned into a food truck. However, there are still a few factions of the gastronomical world that could use some more exposure, and what better way to do it than through the humble food truck? There are still many combinations of herbs, spices, sauces, meats, grains and all other food types that can get a leg up in the ever-expanding world of the food truck, and Scorpion Mobile Cafes has put together a little list of these styles to give some inspiration if you are thinking of creating your own food truck biz.
Jamaican me crazy
we cannot stress this enough: Jamaican food is outrageously good. The island nation may be primarily known in Australia for reggae, beaches and Sir Viv Richards, but their culinary prowess is something that should be on the map, too. From spicy jerk chicken to hearty goat curry, scrumptious rice and beans and the world’s best fruit turned savour snack, the plantain, Jamaican food should really be on the same level of popularity as pizza or the kebab. It should be, and can be. Jamaican food is the perfect choice for any budding food truck operator: the menu doesn’t necessarily have to revolve, and the food is not too far up the difficult scale for preparing. The food truck going public will only have to get a whiff of that chicken jerking and those plantains frying and they’ll come running to your van as fast as Usain Bolt runs a 100m sprint.
Hawaii here we come
So, this has been a bit of a thing in recent months, and there’s a good chance that by now you have probably heard of the Hawaiian culinary offering to the world: the poke bowl. The combination of raw fish, veggies and sushi rice is an instagrammer’s dream, but they have yet to have been properly touched on in the food truck game, but we can see that this is about to change. A great option for anyone starting a new business, as you will be coinciding with their rapid increase in popularity, and everyone loves the intricate combinations you can create for them.
Not Hawaii – acai
We put it to you that the frosty deliciousness of the acai bowl beats any coffee for a much-needed midday boost. And whilst the acai bowl has long been on the fringe of an outbreak in popularity on our shores, the food truck has yet to become a place it is mashed and mushed into sweet, energy-producing perfection.
